In January 2024, Chinese President Xi Jinping met with the Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda Gaston Browne, during an official visit to China to formalize agreements which aim to enhance the relationship between both countries and boost the development of Antigua and Barbuda. 

One of the prominent agreements signed is the visa exemption agreement, which for citizens of Antigua and Barbuda, holds immense significance. Antigua and Barbuda is one of the first countries in the Eastern Caribbean to establish diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China. 

The visa-free agreement between Antigua and Barbuda and China allows citizens of both countries to enter each other's territories without requiring a visa. This significant development has opened up various opportunities for the people of these two nations.
