In a government memo issued to stakeholders on the 13th of November 2023, the Citizenship by Investment Unit of Antigua and Barbuda announced the commencement of mandatory interviews for all citizenship applicants.

The notice, signed by Ms Charmaine Donovan, the CEO of the government citizenship unit states that citizenship applications submitted from the 15th of December onwards will be required to undergo mandatory interviews. The interviews will be conducted for all main applicants and dependents who are 16 years of age or older. The memo also introduces a new administrative fee of USD 1,500 to cover the costs of the interview.

All members included in the application are required to be present during the interview, along with national identifications documents submitted with the application file. The interviews are to be conducted virtually by independent service providers as directed by the Citizenship unit.

Interviews will be conducted similar to the virtual Oath of Allegiance calls which are currently being conducted together with the applicant and the licenced agent. Interviews will be conducted in English primarily; however other alternative arrangements can be done where the ultimate goal of the interview cannot be reached, and where the applicant is unable to be interviewed in English. Applicants will be required to attend the interview on the selected date to avoid delays with the processing of their citizenship by investment application.

Antigua Citizenship Requirements

Antigua & Barbuda currently offers the most affordable route to acquiring citizenship for an entire family starting from USD 100,000. Established in 2013, the Antigua CBI programme offers an investment route to citizenship in 3-4 months with visa free access to over 155 countries. Although there are various investment options the most attractive include a non-refundable contribution to the National Development Fund (NDF) or an investment of at least $ USD 200,000 in approved real estate projects.
